right on time!

Tonight Nic and I are collating 500 of mixtape issue 5! The past three months have come to an end and we have a wicked little issue to share with the world. The cover is on 190gsm stock so it's nice and thick and we have much more color.
Yet again friendships have been tested, marriages at boilng point, all in the name of getting mixtape "out there".
Subscribers yours will be in the mail tomorrow along with a special little gift that our FAB friend Fi kindly put together for us xxxxxx
I will be doing a fitzroy/brunswick run on Thursday to drop off issue 5 to a few of our fabo retailers, and all the presells will be in the mail tomorrow/thursday.

We will also be at the Sisters Market THIS SATURDAY with copies of every issue so far for sale, pop in and say hi won't ya?

Mixtogether inspiration

I just came across Geninne's Art Blog and was blown away! She has a wonderful tutorial for making eraser stamps.

I think a trip to buy some erasers will be added to my 'to do' list for tomorrow.

Issue 5 is just around the corner!

Issue 5 has been to the proofreader, Sime has just finished designing it and now Nic and I will just give it one last look over before we print the baby! YAY!! This is the part that makes all the hard work worth it. We hope you enjoy this issue as much if not more than all the previous issues. Out August 1, 2008 but pre-selling now.

Love Hate (print)

This past week we ran a competition for our loyal subscribers to go in the draw to win:

Tattoo Darling: The Art of Angelique Houtkamp
Gemma reviewed this book in issue 4 of mixtape:
Okay, this is probably bad taste self promotion since I helped make this book. But maybe if I just declare that you will forgive me. Angelique is a Dutch artist, collector and tattooist. She mixes traditional tattoo iconography with her own dreamy visions and other slices from her preferred historical moments. Nostalgic, sweet, dark and mysterious - Angelique is an inspirational craftswoman both with the watercolour brush and the tattoo gun. It is a testimony to her tough personality and damn fine skill that people everywhere beg to go under her gun and get imprinted for life. Did I say that I love her and I'm bias? Do you forgive me?

The winner of the book is Felicity from NZ and the runners up are: Nerida Naomi & Louise who will all receive one of Angeliques stunning cards in the mail soon.

Big thanks to Outre Gallery (gemma xx) for kindly donating this awesome prize

We spent the afternoon in the city yesterday.
We made buttons at sticky, and purchased a heap of zines which we will review over the coming weeks on our blog.
We ate "lord of the fries" and popped in and saw gemma at Outre.

That brings us to giveaway time! Outre have kindly donated a copy of Angelique Houtkamp "Tattoo Darling", woooooooowzzza!!! I personally own a copy and it is one divine book.

So the giveaway (FOR SUBSCRIBERS ONLY) questions are:
Where does Angelique Houtkamp live?
What is your favorite book/movie and cd? (JUST ONE OF EACH PLEASE)
Why should you be the owner of this super fabo book?
email your answers to mixtapezine@gmail.com

If you go out in the woods today...

We finally subscribed to Frankie, we have both been buying Frankie for ages and thought that a subscription delivered straight to our PO box was just what was needed.
Well for subscribing we got given these awesome brooches from Made By White. We share things here at mixtape, so Nic got Little Red Ridding Hood and I go to keep the Wolf (quite apt really). Made By White are readers of mixtape and we are now super glad to be owners of their ace wares.

We have just finished our meeting today (while the kids played around us) and have quite a few exciting things in the pipeline. I can't keep secrets but I am learning how to. Let's just say we love and appreciate all the support we get from our fellow crafters and that mixtape is evolving at a nice an steady pace...

BIG THANKS TO Peta Pledger for lending us a machine to make life even easier!!
Lots of Love & Light to Isy xx

Knit Aid

Vickie Howell has a cool new book out and i've been lucky enough to score a copy!
It's the perfect size to fit into your bag to take along with your current WIP and is spiral bound so it stays open while you work from it.
It came in handy this week when i needed to join the live stitches of a soaker i've been knitting for Heidi. I used the Kitchener stitch which was clearly explained using words and diagrams.
And look...perfect results!
Check out Vickie's website.
